Chinese telecom giant Huawei has approached the Indian government recently. The main reason for this meeting was to request the government to take an independent decision regarding their participation in 5G network development in the country- according to the Economic Times report.
Huawei is Facing Tough Situations After Getting Banned by Trump Administration
Huawei, the second largest smartphone brand and renowned telecom brand hailing from China have been banned by the US. Trump administration has added it to the blacklist of the country preventing the US companies from doing business with Huawei. The main reason for this is security issues.
Brands like Qualcomm Snapdragon, Google has already stopped working with Huawei. From now onwards all Huawei and Honor mobiles won’t have Android OS too. The US government has taken some strict decisions and this impacted the Huawei market a lot. Although the company has backups for OS and chipset, the bad name due to this ban is worrisome.
In order to strengthen their relationship with other countries, the company is approaching every country’s government and is requesting them to take an independent decision.
Likewise, they have contacted the Indian government about their position in the market. This approach has left the department in splits and Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has stated that they will look into the matter very seriously. He assured that they won’t let the company participate in 5G trails until and unless they are sure that there are no security issues.
Jay Chen, Huawei India’s Chief Executive Officer is hoping that the Indian government won’t get influenced by the US pressure. The company has been working closely with Indian telecom department for 6-8 months now.
